Durham NC's EvE Bio is looking for a detail-oriented cell culture biologist to join us as a Senior Scientist to establish and lead our cell culture facility. The successful candidate will lead the generation, QC, and production at scale of stable reporter-expressing cells in support of our high throughput screening, and provide support to the assay development and screening groups. They will collaborate extensively with other members of teams, with a drive to continually improve and execute within project timelines. An ideal candidate will have prior experience managing a cell culture facility and participating in drug discovery and screening.Responsibilities include
- Provide strategic leadership for set-up and operation of the cell culture laboratory and guide growth of this functional area to support an ever-expanding assay portfolio and research needs
- Oversee all logistical aspects of a cell culture lab including ordering, registration, receiving, request fulfillment, mycoplasma testing, STR profiling, physical inventory, and safety
- Generation of stable reporter-expressing cell lines
- Execution of established assays in support of our target pipeline
- Analysis of experimental data and leadership of team-based data reviews
- Unflagging attention to detail in a fast paced and ever-changing environment
- Support of multiple tasks and concurrent projects
- Strict adherence with safety and compliance requirements
- BS (or higher) in a biological discipline or similar area
- 5+ years experience performing mammalian cell culture
- Experience managing a mammalian cell culture operation
- Strong initiative, problem solving, desire to learn, attention to detail, ability to effectively organize and prioritize
- Excellent interpersonal skills, proactive communication, strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, and an ability to work effectively across diverse and cross-functional teams
- A can-do attitude complemented by a willingness to help where needed
- Ability to work independently
- Resident of North Carolina's Research Triangle region (relocation benefits are not offered for this position)
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Experience generating and validating stable cell lines (especially experience using CRISPR technologies for knock-ins)
- Experience with high throughput screening and/or validated processes
- Previous experience in a startup/entrepreneurial environment
