This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, growing Focused Research Organization (FRO) startup (currently in stealth). Head of Sequencing will conduct NGS-based experimental research and contribute to novel assay development in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will develop high-throughput workflows and generate datasets from adaptive immune cells. Head of Sequencing will work closely with other top-tier experimental and computational scientists to create groundbreaking new insights into adaptive immunity.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and execute NGS-based assays in coordination with interdisciplinary science teams
  • Prepare DNA and RNA libraries from immune cells
  • Maintain high standards for sequencing quality and throughput by rigorously performing in-house QC checks and remaining current with industry best practices
  • Establish and optimize workflows, write and maintain SOPs for NGS assays, maintain sequencer uptime, and manage reagent inventory.
  • Contribute to the development of novel NGS and multiomics assays and research, inclusive of experimental design
  • Collaborate effectively with computational, molecular biology, and translational researchers
  • Oversee junior research staff
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others

Key Qualifications

  • PhD in biomedical engineering, genetics, immunology or related field that relies on next-generation sequencing applications
  • 2-3 years or more of postdoctoral or industry experience, or equivalent
  • High proficiency with nucleic acid preparation from adaptive immune cells
  • Proven track record of custom library-preparation development for next-generation sequencing
  • Expertise with **AIRR-seq / BCR-seq**, scRNA-seq, and other NGS approaches
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills

Advanced Qualifications (experience in the following is preferred, but not required)

  • Experience with single-cell multiomics techniques (eg, CITE-seq, LIBRA-seq), long-reads, and/or proteomic antibody sequencing (Ab-seq). (strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with diverse next-generation sequencing technologies such as Pacific Biosciences, Oxford Nanopore, and/or Ion Torrent
  • Familiarity with diverse microfluidics, microwell, and microfluidics-free platforms
  • Experience with liquid handling automation for sequencing library preparation
  • Proficiency in custom protocol development
  • Experience with sequencing and/or multi omic assay development
  • Competence in R and/or Python (Scanpy, Seurat)
  • Management experience (inclusive of research assistants or graduate students)

We Offer

  • Competitive compensation: $100,000 - $140,000 a year (salary commensurate with experience)
  • Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance
