This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, growing Focused Research Organization (FRO) startup (currently in stealth). Head of Sequencing will conduct NGS-based experimental research and contribute to novel assay development in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will develop high-throughput workflows and generate datasets from adaptive immune cells. Head of Sequencing will work closely with other top-tier experimental and computational scientists to create groundbreaking new insights into adaptive immunity.

Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and execute NGS-based assays in coordination with interdisciplinary science teams.
- Prepare DNA and RNA libraries from immune cells.
- Maintain high standards for sequencing quality and throughput by rigorously performing in-house QC checks and remaining current with industry best practices.
- Establish and optimize workflows, write and maintain SOPs for NGS assays, maintain sequencer uptime, and manage reagent inventory.
- Contribute to the development of novel NGS and multiomics assays and research, inclusive of experimental design.
- Collaborate effectively with computational, molecular biology, and translational researchers.
- Oversee junior research staff.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
- PhD in biomedical engineering, genetics, immunology or related field that relies on next-generation sequencing applications.
- 2-3 years or more of postdoctoral or industry experience, or equivalent.
- High proficiency with nucleic acid preparation from adaptive immune cells.
- Proven track record of custom library-preparation development for next-generation sequencing.
- Expertise with **AIRR-seq / BCR-seq**, scRNA-seq, and other NGS approaches.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Experience with single-cell multiomics techniques (eg, CITE-seq, LIBRA-seq), long-reads, and/or proteomic antibody sequencing (Ab-seq). (strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with diverse next-generation sequencing technologies such as Pacific Biosciences, Oxford Nanopore, and/or Ion Torrent.
- Familiarity with diverse microfluidics, microwell, and microfluidics-free platforms.
- Experience with liquid handling automation for sequencing library preparation.
- Proficiency in custom protocol development.
- Experience with sequencing and/or multi omic assay development.
- Competence in R and/or Python (Scanpy, Seurat).
- Management experience (inclusive of research assistants or graduate students).
- Competitive compensation: $100,000 - $140,000 a year (salary commensurate with experience)
