Engineering Manager
Cloudless Labs is a fast-growing startup building Fluence, a decentralized protocol enabling developers to rent compute resources seamlessly. Our small, talented team is tackling challenging problems in cloud-native infrastructure, decentralized computing, and product delivery for the web3 space.
Your Role
As the Engineering Manager, you will:
Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead a group of ~15 engineers across R&D, backend, frontend, and DevOps.
- Facilitate team routines, including dailies, retrospectives, planning, and performance reviews.
- Mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and productive engineering culture.
- Adapt team structure and processes to align with evolving business priorities and project needs.
Strategic Oversight and Alignment
- Establish a high-level roadmap with stakeholders, prioritizing features and milestones that maximize business value and go-to-market impact.
- Organize and maintain architecture decisions, technical documentation, and knowledge in a centralized, up-to-date, and accessible form.
- Support cross-team collaboration, ensuring smooth integration of efforts and delivering high-quality, cohesive products.
Process and Quality Improvements
- Define and implement lightweight yet effective project planning, task decomposition, and estimation processes.
- Supervise QA practices, ensuring rigorous testing and alignment with production standards.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, with a focus on team satisfaction, productivity, and engineering excellence.
What We’re Looking For
Leadership Experience
- Proven success in managing engineering teams in fast-paced environments, ideally in cloud-native or infrastructure-heavy domains.
- Strong track record of aligning engineering practices with strategic goals and ensuring timely delivery of complex projects.
Technical Understanding
- Familiarity with cloud-native technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, container orchestration) and decentralized or blockchain concepts (e.g., Solidity, smart contracts).
- Ability to oversee technically challenging projects without needing hands-on coding.
Problem-Solving Skills
- Expertise in managing constrained resources, prioritizing business needs, and organizing teams for maximum impact.
- Adept at balancing short-term deliverables with long-term engineering and business goals.
Communication and Collaboration
- Exceptional ability to align multiple stakeholders, clarify priorities, and maintain coherence across teams.
- Fluent English required; Russian is a plus.
What Success Looks Like
- A well-defined and aligned roadmap that sets clear priorities and expectations for all stakeholders.
- A fully established knowledge management system that reduces friction and preserves organizational expertise.
- Efficient and predictable delivery processes that maintain product quality and align with business milestones.
