Our client is a large-scale innovation network of 750+ teams, projects, and movements united by a shared mission to drive breakthroughs in computing and push humanity forward. Decentralization is central to their operational ethos and belief system, baked into the products they develop. The client operates as an innovation network to help drive technologies and projects from R&D into real-world adoption. Their network supports a range of open-source and decentralized infrastructure projects alongside emerging efforts in neurotech, AI, digital rights, governance, etc.
About The Role
We are seeking a Business Unit Leader who will define, build, and lead a dedicated business unit focused on growing our decentralized storage and blockchain activities profitably and delivering broad strategic impact across our network and the wider ecosystem. This is a foundational role responsible for driving commercial deal volumes, compounding token holdings through strong investment strategy and programmatic capital allocation, and maximizing the impact of Public Goods Funding programs — all while building structure in ambiguity and translating high-level strategy into sustained, measurable results.
The ideal candidate will bring startup operator experience and the ability to lead across multiple complex initiatives simultaneously. Key responsibilities include defining org structure and recruiting talent, driving strategic planning and operational excellence, and leading cross-functional initiatives that span R&D, Legal, Finance, and Operations teams. This leader will also serve as a key connection point for external ecosystem partners and stakeholders, ensuring consistent messaging, aligned priorities, and network-wide impact.
Requirements

10+ years of experience as a Founder or as a General Manager, Business Manager, Head of Operations/Strategy, or similar strategic execution role, preferably within a high-growth tech or startup environment.

Proven track record of high impact outcomes and making things happen.

Clear examples of developing and translating complex, high-level strategy into actionable operational plans and driving execution across multiple teams.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, anchored by first principles thinking and data-driven insights.

Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex, cross-functional initiatives simultaneously.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at influencing stakeholders at all levels, including external partners.

Experience building and scaling operational processes from the ground up in a rapidly evolving organizational environment.
