Project: A foundation dedicated to making grants to participants in the ZKsync ecosystem and the broader zero-knowledge cryptography space. It provides grants and enters into agreements with various market participants working on or related to ZKsync, ZKsync technology, the Ethereum ‘layer-1’ blockchain system, or other zero-knowledge-based cryptographic technology. The foundation’s grants aim to study, evaluate, test, monitor, maintain, facilitate, foster, and improve the security, systems integrity, and functionality of ZKsync, its technology, the Ethereum ‘layer-1’ system, and any smart contract related to ZKsync or other zero-knowledge cryptographic technology. This includes support for testnets, testing environments, and any product or market participant interacting with or contributing to these systems.

Role Detail: We are searching for a Chief Compliance Officer responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the foundation’s compliance program. This role involves developing and leading a comprehensive compliance strategy, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and fostering a proactive compliance culture within the organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, experience in implementing compliance processes and procedures for the crypto ecosystem, and the ability to work independently while driving the compliance agenda forward.

Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining an effective compliance program to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations, leading and mentoring the compliance team, and creating and enforcing policies related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and data protection laws. The Chief Compliance Officer will also establish processes for grant distributions, act as the liaison for regulatory inquiries and audits, ensure timely regulatory filings, and conduct regular compliance reviews and risk assessments. Additionally, they will collaborate with legal, finance, and operations teams to align compliance efforts with business objectives, provide guidance and training to staff, and stay updated on regulatory developments.

Requirements:

• 8-10 years of experience in a compliance role, preferably within the financial services or cryptocurrency industry.
• Proven experience in developing, building, and enhancing compliance programs to meet evolving regulatory requirements.
• Deep understanding of global regulatory environments affecting cryptocurrencies.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail with the capability to analyze complex regulatory requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
• Strong interest in web3, blockchain, or zero-knowledge cryptography.
