Survival & Flourishing Fund (SFF)- Product Manager

Specialism: Philanthropy / Infrastructure

Project: Our client is a philanthropic organization that develops and manages software to support large-scale grantmaking for donors focused on humanity’s long-term future. Since its founding in 2019, the fund has organized more than $117 million in grants and gifts, working with a range of foundations and research institutes. The organization operates as a “virtual fund,” streamlining the submission and evaluation of applications to help donors identify high-impact opportunities. With backing from early grant support and partnerships through donor-advised funds, it now aims to expand its current grant evaluation system into a secure, standalone application, providing philanthropists, advisors, and applicants with a more seamless and trusted platform for decision-making.

Location: Remote

Role Detail: We are searching for a full-time product manager to help build an intuitive app that enables thoughtful, structured deliberation about how to improve humanity’s long-term future. The goal is to make a well-tested deliberation process more accessible, engaging, and action-oriented for diverse groups of stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include identifying and prioritizing product opportunities across the app and related tools, translating strategic goals into clear implementation plans, addressing unexpected challenges, and creating documentation and communications for internal and external audiences. The role requires 6–12 hours per week of meetings, along with strong collaboration skills and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks to keep projects moving forward.

Requirements:

  • Turn high-level strategic objectives into detailed product specifications
  • Develop actionable tickets and implementation plans from product requirements
  • Navigate and design for complex systems involving multiple user types, applications, and workflows
  • Operate effectively in environments without established product management structures or processes
  • Build alignment and secure buy-in through clear, reasoned argumentation rather than authority
  • Communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including technical teams, leadership, external stakeholders, and the public
  • Make persuasive, evidence-based cases for product decisions and prioritization
  • Manage products with long feedback cycles and a focus on long-term outcomes
  • Improve internal operations through better processes, automation, and workflow design
  • Ensure leadership has clear visibility into project progress and execution
  • Strong quantitative reasoning skills (e.g., in calculus, game theory, or expected utility theory)
  • Programming ability for tasks such as web development or spreadsheet automation
  • Familiarity with high-impact philanthropy and related grantmaking processes, or the ability to quickly learn the domain
