We are seeking a strongly motivated Animal Behaviorist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in our research and development efforts by supporting our animal program and research by developing positive reinforcement based training strategies and ensuring the behavioral health of the animals. The Animal Behaviorist will work closely with our team of scientists to plan and execute experiments, and ensure results communicated to the research team. In addition, this individual will also help the animal care staff with husbandry needs.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement positive reinforcement training program for NHP husbandry, research, and welfare
  • Develop and implement behavioral intervention strategies
  • Implement novel enrichment strategies
  • Maintain accurate records of animal training and behavior
  • Assist veterinary staff in clinical care
  • Assist animal care staff in husbandry and animal care

Key Qualifications:

  • Positive reinforcement training with animals
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to keep accurate records
  • Excellent communication and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Comfortably lift 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with and training NHPs
  • Experience in research settings

Salary/Pay Range:

Science is required under California law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on the indicated salary band. The base salary range for this full-time position is $85,000-$100,000 annually + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers.
