Join our team of scientists and engineers as we develop next-generation cell and gene therapies for brain-computer interfaces and optogenetic vision restoration. You'll contribute directly to pioneering research with the potential to restore sight to the blind and create revolutionary neural interfaces. This is a perfect opportunity for an early career scientist to gain hands-on experience and training in a fast-paced research environment.

Role responsibilities:

  • Support histology assays such as perfusions, immunohistochemistry, and in situ hybridization
  • Perform advanced cell culture techniques working with cutting-edge stem cell lines, organoids, and primary cells
  • Execute molecular biology assays including ELISA, FACS, library preparation, and digital PCR
  • Perform precise in vivo procedures in rodent models including intraocular injections, tail vein injections, and blood collection

Key qualifications:

  • A skilled laboratory scientist with 1-2+ years of hands-on biology experience
  • An expert in cell culture with impeccable sterile technique
  • Experienced in histology and microscopy techniques
  • Proficient with FACS and ELISA methodologies
  • Meticulous and precise work, with exceptional attention to detail
  • An effective communicator who can articulate complex scientific concepts clearly
  • A self-motivated individual who consistently exceeds expectations
  • Comfortable with laboratory software and data analysis tools

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with organoid development and maintenance
  • Proficiency in confocal microscopy and image analysis
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills and data interpretation abilities
  • Strong subject matter expertise in immunology, optogenetics, vision, or stem cell engineering
  • A demonstrated track record of excellence in work

Salary/Pay Range:

Science is required under California law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on the indicated salary band. The base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000 – $115,000 + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers.
