Software Engineer
Science
Science is a clinical stage, vertically integrated technology company focused on solving some of neuroscience’s hardest questions and most serious unmet medical needs. We work to restore quality of life to those with debilitating conditions for which there are no treatment options, creating devices aimed at restoring vision, cognition, and mobility to patients who have lost it. To support progress across our industry, we provide state-of-the-art components and vertically integrated infrastructure for others to build on via Science Foundry.
Software is everywhere at Science—real-time neural signal processing and closed-loop decoding, firmware and SDK for our neural recording headstage, and purpose-built tools for everything from cell biology to microfab to finance to surgery. We are looking for experienced engineers to build across this stack in close collaboration with a world-class team of scientists and engineers.
The through-line is technical and product judgment: can you absorb someone else's mental model—whether it be a neuroscientist designing an experiment, or a microfab engineer increasing throughput of a machine—and quickly build something that makes sense for the situation?

- Strong evidence of technical excellence, such as widely used open-source contributions, a track record of high impact (broadly defined) results, or experience building and maintaining production systems
- Background in high-performance computing: real-time systems, low-latency programming, game engines, or real-time media systems
- Experience extracting information from biological signals, market feeds, audio recordings, video streams, or other real-world noisy data
- Well-versed in hardware interfaces, device drivers, embedded systems, or networking protocols
