The Senior Data Engineer will design, deliver and enhance the open source graph data system underpinning Sodal’s core product. The chosen candidate will reference our Minimum Viable Product and incorporate our emerging customer use cases to launch the initial production system in 2024. Our graph is the heart of our product offering, and this position will own this critical component end-to-end. This position will be a core part of a small, fast-moving team and responsible for cross-functional duties. We are a fully remote workforce.

- Own a novel graph-based identity solution end-to-end, and from the beginning
- Lead data architecture, design, implementation and iterative improvement

- Coach developers on graph theory, data analytics, and related mathematical concepts
Responsibilities
- Produce our graph data system for incorporation into other offerings
- Lead the graph design process from initial requirements, through recommendations and design decisions
- Work backwards from stakeholder needs by gathering customer, product, and system requirements
- Architect the graph data system for accuracy, quality, robustness, scale, security, privacy, and performance
- Orchestrate research, development, testing, and production deployments
- Automate graph data system monitoring and alerting
- Manage and optimize database queries and performance
- Drive improvement in data engineering practices
- Maintain easily understood documentation and FAQs for customer and developer consumption
Desired Work History
- Led the analysis, design, and delivery of two or more end-to-end data graph solutions
- Led qualitative improvements of underlying large-scale graph data
- Experience thriving in a disciplined, iterative, fast-paced development environment
- Experience productizing and commercializing innovations in the data science and graph theory domains
- 5 or more years in hands-on, technical roles involving Data Engineering
Desired Skillsets
- The right candidate will direct technology selection for the core product
- Advanced proficiency using Cypher and SQL
- Demonstrated expertise implementing graph data systems for data modeling, ETL processes, and large-scale data warehousing
- Advanced analytics experience with a demonstrated ability to convert complex datasets into actionable insights
- Proficiency integrating data systems into CI/CD pipelines
- Experience designing and delivering SaaS products employing graph databases
- Familiarity with identity and access management (IAM), and reputation concepts and solutions
- Familiarity with Python, JavaScript / Typescript, Go, Java, Ruby, and related technologies
- Exposure to large scale access control platforms such as Google Zanzibar, Auth0, and OpenFGA
- Excellent writing and communication skills in the presentation of designs and recommendations
Compensation & Benefits
- The target annual salary for this position can range from USD$90,000 to USD$125,000, plus generous equity in an early stage startup.
- Full time offers also include medical, dental, and vision coverage as well as equipment, home office, and SaaS services stipends.
